Song of The Day: The Clancy Brothers - Silent Night

They'll forever be remembered for their (white) Aran jumper wearing ways but Ireland's Clancy Brother left a rich legacy of traditional inspired material behind them. But the last thing you might have expected from the banjo wielding flat capped siblings would be a Christmas album. But arrive it did in 1969 with the brothers being joined for the first time by their soon to be ever constant Tommy Makem. The song opens in typical style with a lone tin whistle before filling out with the 4 brothers dulcet tones. A gentle surprise.
