Bob Rivers Christmas CD

Bob Rivers Christmas Songs & Music

If you are tired of the same old silent nights and winter wonderlands, Bob Rivers is the answer. The US radio personality released his first album of Christmas song parodies in 1988 and it became such a hit that Rivers went on to release four more records of irreverent holiday fun.

Bob Rivers Christmas Albums

Twisted Christmas

1988: Twisted Christmas

Bob Rivers’s first holiday album parodies eleven of the world’s most famous carols. The record provides an antidote to the stress of Christmas shopping and family feuds, providing listeners with hilarious rocking tunes like The Restroom Door Said Gentleman and Wreck the Malls. The album is made even more amusing by the range of vocalists Rivers incorporates in the tracks. Recorded by the Comedy Corp, tracks feature a capella choirs, children and even Rivers himself.

I Am Santa Claus

1993: I Am Santa Claus

Rivers creates more laughs with his second album of Christmas song parodies. As well as standard lyric-substitution takeoffs like I Came Upon a Roadkill Deer and Walkin’ Round in Women’s Underwear, Rivers superimposes the lyrics of holiday tracks onto the music of famous rock tunes. O Little Town of Bethlehem is sung to the tune of The House of the Rising Sun whilst Jingle Bells gets the Highway to Hell treatment. Rivers also gets creative with some political jibes, film parodies and a rendition of O Christmas Tree performed entirely by chainsaw.

Bob Rivers Presents More Twisted Christmas

1997: Bob Rivers Presents More Twisted Christmas

Bob Rivers returns to his roots in this, his third Christmas parody album. Unlike I Am Santa Claus, More Twisted Christmas is devoid of instrumentals and spoken word, instead being a collection of either Christmas themed parodies of pop-songs, or takeoffs of famous carols. In a slightly random humorous twist, the album features a cameo by American fitness personality Richard Simmons. Simmons chimes in on the tracks It’s the Most Fattening Time of the Year and Rummy Rocker Boy.

Chipmunks Roasting on an Open Fire

2000: Chipmunks Roasting on an Open Fire

Rivers’s 2000 holiday offering pokes fun at children’s group The Chipmunks. The album’s title is a parody of the 1940’s classic The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire), whilst the opening track, The Twisted Chipmunk Song takes off the Chipmunks’ most well known Christmas hit. As with Rivers’s previous albums, this record features spot-on imitations of the songs he is parodying, but in general it is regarded as being not quite as clever and witty as his earlier releases.

White Trash Christmas

2002: White Trash Christmas

Rivers’s most recent holiday album is hilarious and clever, if at times a touch controversial. White Trash Christmas successfully imitates artists like Eminem, Bob Seger and The Carpenters in twelve Christmas themed parodies of well known popular hits. The timely Osama Got Run Over by a Reindeer was a holiday hit across the United States in 2002 and even featured as a cartoon on the Bob Rivers website.
