The Christmas Album

1971: The Christmas Album

The Christmas Album takes a non-religious look at holiday music, featuring eleven purely secular yuletide tracks. Anderson presents an up-tempo combination of rollicking Christmas classics like Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree and original themed songs from some of Nashville’s best known writers. The fun opening track Ding-a-Ling the Christmas Bell was a popular holiday single in 1971 and was even briefly considered as the basis for a Christmas cartoon special. A huge hit during the seventies, The Christmas Album is still something of a cult hit, with fans clamouring for a re-release, even forty years after its first appearance.

Home for the Holidays

2002: Home for the Holidays

Rumour has it, Lynn Anderson was inspired to release her second Christmas album following the massive sums of money The Christmas Album had been fetching on E-Bay. Home for the Holidays was released more than thirty years after Anderson’s first Christmas offering, but provided everything her loyal fans could have wanted. The song selection is much more traditional than her first album, lacking the inclusion of fresh new tracks, but doing more than justice to twelve classics like Winter Wonderland and Jingle Bells. Naturally, Anderson’s voice is more mature on this album, but she still manages seductive and dreamy performances that prove she can still deliver!
