A Christmas Toast
Year: 1959
Written By: Ken Lane, Irving Taylor
Bing Crosby recorded
this Ken Lane and Irving Taylor Christmas song in 1971 for his 'A
Time To Be Jolly' festive collection. The album was reissued on CD
in 1995 and retitled 'Christmas Album', but lacked the wholesome
artwork and commentary of the original. 'A Christmas Toast' is
probably one of Bing Crosby's least known Christmas songs (and it
has rarely been covered by other artists) but as an advert for
rejoicing in December tradition it is hard to beat. The production
by Sonny Burke is faultless and Crosby turns a vocal performance
that offers another example of why he has become the unmistakable
voice of Christmas.
