Beautiful Star Of Bethlehem
Year: 1940
Written By: R. Fisher Boyce, Adger M. Pace, A.L. Phipps
'Beautiful Star of
Bethlehem' is a quiet carol written by R. Fisher Boyce, Adger M.
Pace and A.L. Phipps in 1940 which has been recorded by several
country music artists down through the years. The Oak Ridge Boys
performed a rather perfunctory version of the carol for 2005's 'An
Inconvenient Christmas'. Much better is the Judds 2003 'Beautiful
Star of Bethlehem' which while undeniably simple is distinguished
by their rich vocal harmonies. The Judds are a mother and daughter
country duo whose 2003 'Christmas Time with the Judds', from which
this song comes from, has been lavished with praise. Emmylou
Harris' also did something similar years earlier for her 1992
'Christmas Album (Light of the Stable)', again the musical
accompaniment is sparse but the singing is absolutely
faultless.
Beautiful Star Of Bethlehem Lyrics
O beautiful star of Bethlehem
Shining far through shadows dim
Giving the light for those who long have gone
Guiding the wise men on their way
Unto the place where Jesus lay
O beautiful star of Bethlehem
Shine on
O beautiful star of Bethlehem
Shine upon us until the glory dawns
Give us a light to light the way
Unto the land of perfect day
O beautiful star of Bethlehem
Shine on
O beautiful star the hope of life
Guiding the pilgrims through the night
Over the mountains 'til the break of dawn
Into the light of perfect day
It will give out a lovely ray
O beautiful star of Bethlehem
Shine on
O beautiful star of Bethlehem
Shine upon us until the glory dawns
Give us a light to light the way
Unto the land of perfect day
O beautiful star of Bethlehem
Shine on
O beautiful star of Bethlehem
Shine upon us until the glory dawns
Give us a light
Unto the land of perfect day
O beautiful star of Bethlehem
Shine on
O beautiful star of Bethlehem
Shine on
