Caroling, Caroling
Year: 1954
Written By: Alfred Burt
'Caroling, Caroling'
was written by Alfred Burt in 1954 as part of a long standing
family tradition where family members were posted a Christmas carol
containing a new carol each December. 'Caroling, Caroling' was the
13rd in a series of 15 composed by Burt between 1942 and
1954. It was one of 3 he wrote just before he died in 1954 and has
become the most famous of them all having been recorded by the
likes of Fred Waring (for his 1959 'The Sounds of Christmas), Nat
King Cole (for his 1960 album 'The Magic of Christmas), Perry Como
(found on his 1967 album 'The Perry Como Christmas Album') and the
Manhattan Transfer (from 1992's 'The Christmas Album).
Christmas songs
don't get much more traditional in spirit and theme than 'Caroling,
Caroling'. It is a real throwback to the way Christmas used to be
and is a nice way to relive the experience all over again or for
the very first time.
Caroling, Caroling Lyrics
Caroling, caroling, now we go
Christmas bells are ringing
Caroling, caroling thru the snow
Christmas bells are ringing
Joyous voices sweet and clear
Sing the sad of heart to cheer
Ding dong, ding dong
Christmas bells are ringing
Caroling, caroling thru the town
Christmas bells are ringing
Caroling, caroling up and down
Christmas bells are ringing
Mark ye well the song we sing
Gladsome tidings now we bring
Ding dong, ding dong
Christmas bells are ringing!
Caroling, caroling, near and far
Christmas bells are ringing
Following, following yonder star
Christmas bells are ringing
Sing we all this happy morn
"Lo, the King of heav'n is born!"
Ding dong, ding dong
Christmas bells are ringing
