Christmas Comes To Us All Once A Year
Year: 1962
Written By: F. Arquill
'Christmas Comes To
Us All Once A Year' is a song from gospel singer Mahalia Jackson's
1962 album 'Silent Night (Songs For Christmas)'. The album has long
since been deleted but many of the tracks have appeared on CD
compilation's over the years. There is an intensity to Jackson's
singing that keeps you on the edge of your seat, something you
wouldn't traditionally expect from a Christmas song. With her
powerful voice banishing everything else to the sidelines it would
be easy to miss the gorgeous backing track which has a heavenly
glow. Remarkably powerful stuff.
Christmas Comes To Us All Once A Year Lyrics
Christmas comes to us all once a year
Bringing forth much love and good cheer
Blearing snow from heaven above
Clothes our hearts like a blanket of love
Little children sing hymns
'round the ol' Christmas tree
And the song lights they sparkle
In close harmony
Church bells ringing, the chime
Rining so much delight
You'll just know that this is Christmas night
Christmas comes to us all once a year
Gretting all with love, so sincere
Stars up high twinkle so bright and gay
Telling all (it) soon will be Christmas Day
