Christmas Dreaming (A Little Early This Year)
Year: 1947
Written By: Irving Gordon, Lester Lee
Frank Sinatra
recorded this track in 1947, a year before his first Christmas
album 'Christmas Songs' arrived. It is undeniably traditional fare
and is backed by Axel Stordahl's lush orchestral arrangements which
makes it feel like you're tucked up beside the hearth as the snow
buckets down outside. Sinatra's voice sounds impeccable, displaying
a range to give his vocals a hypnotic storytelling dynamic. While
'Christmas Dreaming (A Little Early This Year' did not appear on
the aforementioned 'Christmas Songs' it was included on Sinatra's
1957 'Christmas Dreaming' release.
Fast forward to 1993
and Harry Connick Jr. did a superb job on giving 'Christmas
Dreaming' an undeniable swing. His vocals do sound eerily like
Sinatra but the production and extras like the olde-time backing
singers and brass interludes add up to a really enjoyable
rendition.
Christmas Dreaming (A Little Early This Year) Lyrics
I'm doing my christmas dreaming
A little early this year
No sign of snow around
And yet I go around
Hearing jingle bells ringing in my ear
Your promise must be the reason
The happy season is here
So I'm doing my Christmas dreaming
A little early this year
So I'm doing my Christmas dreaming
A little early this year
