Christmas In The Air Christmas Song

Christmas In The Air

Year: 1998

Written By: Jon Oliva, Paul O'Neill/Kenny Rogers

The Trans-Siberian Orchestra is an impressive 60-piece orchestra that has specialised in original Christmas material under the guidance of songwriter Paul O'Neill. The collective have to date recorded 3 seasonal themed LP's and the euphoric 'Christmas In The Air' is taken from the middle one 'The Christmas Attic'. The song is never less than uplifting and is marked by its lovely piano intro. It might veer into bombast on occasion but that hardly seems to be a problem for much of our most cherished festive favourites.

Kenny Rogers also recorded a song called 'Christmas In The Air' for his 2004 CD/DVD presentation 'Keep Christmas With You'. Whereas Trans-Siberian Orchestra went for big and bold, Kenny instead opted for gentle and soft and it resulted in a charming number by the country star.

Christmas In The Air Lyrics

Christmas time in the middle of a city
Seeking its salvation
With every string of lights
That suddenly appears

Children stare with new found wonder
No one dares to break the trance
Every wish is carefully numbered
And God has granted all a second chance
This day

And all at once
The dream's begun
And as we mark the old year's passing
Strangers greet
On every street
And suddenly there's goodwill everywhere
There's Christmas in the air

On this night
To this light
We see it all again
On this night
To this light
We see it all again

On this night
To this light
We see it all again
On this night
To this light
We see it all again
All again

On this winter night
We still wait for you

And now the time has come
When all the world is one
And as we mark the old year's passing
Strangers greet
On every street
And suddenly there's goodwill everywhere
There's Christmas in the air

There comes a time when we're on our own
Some times in life such a thing must be
But such a thing should not be known
This night
This night
This night

And now the time has come
And now the time has come
And now the time has come
And now the time has come
And now the time has come

And all the world is one
And as we mark the old year's passing
Strangers greet
On every street
And suddenly there's goodwill everywhere
There's Christmas in the air
