Christmas Is Here Again
Year: 1978
Written By: Roger Whittaker
Roger Whittaker was
quite the Christmas fan and a cursory look over his back catalogue
revealed a man willing to suffer plastic snowflakes for his craft.
He wrote 'Christmas Is Here Again' for his 1978 'The Roger
Whittaker Christmas Album' and you can't but like the old time
waltz. Old time and old fashioned it must be said but then when did
we ever get upset over sentimentality during December? Sarah
Brightman and Helmut Lotti certainly don't as they recorded a
wondrous orchestral/choir backed version of Whittaker's song in
1998 for their album with Placido Domingo 'A Gala Christmas in
Vienna'.
Christmas Is Here Again Lyrics
Christmas is here again.
Stand up and cheer again.
Let's leave our heart ages and sorrows behind.
All that I want is to be here beside you.
All that I need is right here in my arms.
All that I want is to know that you love me
and this will be my finest Christmas time.
Holly and mistletoe, small faces all a glow.
Stockings for Santa to fill with his toys.
Bright shining Christmas trees,
small people on there knees.
Tell Santa, they have been good girls and boys.
All that I want is to be here beside you.
All that I need is right here in my arms.
All that I want is to know that you love me
and this will be my finest Christmas time.
Grownups in paper haps, turkey in Bradley snaps,
Chestnuts to roast in the coals of a fire.
The joy of giving things - the blessings Christmas brings.
Just to be near you is all I desire.
All that I want is to be here beside you.
All that I need is right here in my arms.
All that I want is to know that you love me
and this will be my finest Christmas time.
All that I want is to be here beside you.
All that I need is right here in my arms.
All that I want is to know that you love me
and this will be my finest Christmas time.
