90s Christmas Songs
The 1990's have brought us some great original Christmas songs,
as well as many updated versions of the more traditional holiday
carols.
Many popular artists in the 1990's recorded whole Christmas
albums which received moderate success by combining some original
Christmas songs with
updated Christmas carols. Artists such as Mariah Carey, Nsync and
Hanson released versions of Christmas carols such as, "Silent
Night", "Run Rudolph Run" and "Merry Christmas, Baby".
Other artists in the 1990's have also released holiday singles
which are still enjoyed today. Most of these have been remakes of
the Christmas classics that we all know and love. Nataie Cole and
Jose Cararras released a wonderful version of "The Holly And The
Ivy" in 1995 and "The First Noel" recorded by the group, Crash Test
Dummies in 1991. Some notable originals of the decade include Amy
Grant's "Grown-up Christmas List" and "All I Want For Christmas Is
You" by Mariah Carey in 1994.
The latter half of the decade also brought us great covers of
traditional Christmas songs such as The Barenaked Ladies version of
"God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" in 1997 and The Dave Matthews Band's
"Christmas Song" in 1998.
