Contemporary Christmas Songs
When deciding on Christmas songs, some people like to
steer away from the traditional hymns and listen to a more current
style. Contemporary Christmas songs are great for the holiday party
in which many different types of people are in attendance. These
songs are most often about the Christmas holiday, rather than the
birth of Jesus Christ.
These contemporary holiday songs are lighthearted and
fun to sing along to since they usually deal with current events
that people can relate to. These songs can be happy, sad, weird or
downright naughty. The bluesy heartfelt song, "Blue
Christmas," which is most notably sung by Elvis Presley, will
remain a classic in all of our hearts. This contemporary Christmas
song tells the story of a man who is sad at Christmas time without
the person that he loves. On the other side of the spectrum, "Santa
Baby", originally sung by Eartha Kitt and written by Joan Javits
and Philip Springer, is a contemporary Christmas song which is
about the materialistic side of Christmas and is meant to be
humorous. Other notable contemporary Christmas songs include, "I
Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Clause", by Tommie Connor, "All I Want For
Christmas Is You" by Mariah Carey, "Christmas Time Is Here Again"
by The Beatles.
Contemporary Christmas music is a great way for
everyone to come together on this joyous occasion and sing in
perfect harmony.
